Year 5 have been learning about life in Baghdad at the time
of the development of early Islamic Civilization. Pupils extended their knowledge about what
life was like in Baghdad c. 900. Each
child wrote a letter to a friend about life in the city as it was lived at that
time, ensuring that they included historically accurate details. To make the letters look authentic, the
children stained paper to make it look as if it hadn’t been seen for over a
thousand years.
